Wow!! I didn’t know what to expect of Shantal Sessions debut novel, but the cover and the and the blurb was so intriguing that I had to buy it! I love medieval romances and this is one of the best I’ve read!Marguerite of Asterias, Meg for her friends, is burdened by the responsability of her father’s kingdom. Her father is aging and hasn’t the force anymore to guide his knights and soldiers in battle. Plus he knows little of the real life of his people, some starving, some ill... so she decides to disguise herself and visit her father’s kingdom and find ways of helping them and getting them food, clothes and basic needs. But what to do about the century long battle with Edmira, their long time enemies. How to save Asterias from falling into ruin?Nicholas of Edmira has always been a soldier since he was a child. Meg was feisty, but kind and selfless. Nicholas was strongminded but also kind and with a heart of gold.There was adventure, betrayal, danger, sweet romance, and even light humor at times. The perfect medieval story, for young adults as well as for more mature adults. It’s a total clean romance, full of action, fast pacing, page turner and with lots of emotions going on.The villains where greatly portrayed too. All the characters felt realistic and the main characters were very relatable.Loved the plot with its twists and turns and the amazing ending!You definitely have to read it if you love this genre, and if you don’t, you should try and maybe change your mind!After I purchased it I won an autographed paperback copy in a giveaway, I was thrilled!
