This worked exactly as I hoped it would. You suction down on the section to be moved, and rap it a few times into position. You don't need to clobber it, just a firm couple of boinks with the mallet on the end of the suction cup handle. Our floor had a slight texture to it, but the suction cups held fine for the few seconds it was attached. The floor looks way better now. I did the entire living room and kitchen in about 15 minutes. It will be interesting to see if the sections stay put, or if they drift apart again. If they do separate, I may apply a little glue at the ends before I close them up next time.In case you were not expecting this... as you move a section of flooring to close a gap, you'll create a gap at the other end of that section. That's OK. Then you move the following piece to close that gap, and repeat, until you chase the gap under the baseboard trim. In fact, before you work on a gap, look at where the nearest piece of trim is (that you can hide the gap under), and start working the gap it that direction. Also, don't chase the gap towards something immovable, like a piece of furniture or appliance that's sitting on the floor. Take it the other direction. Also, you want to do this with a clean floor, and no crud in the gaps. Crud in the gaps will prevent the flooring sections from re-connecting properly. Get in there with a vacuum and a little brush if needed. (Old toothbrush works great.) Good luck.Very easy to use! The suction is really great and it was super easy to use. This product made the job much easier than I expected.Over time, several LVP floating floor rows had slid away from one side of room revealing a gap (discuss install technique challenges in other forums). I was able to slide the entire row using this device. Due to nature of install this will likely recur, but a simple tap tap adjustment is much more appealing than a reinstall. Note flooring must be smooth enough for suction cups to grip.The suction cups and mallet did work on my laminate floors so I was happy about that. It was quite obvious, and you can see in the pictures, that this product is not brand new and probably a used one. There are plenty of scuff marks and the mallet is already tearing. While it did the job, not the level of quality I was expecting for $50 CADHad water damage on my cork tiled floor leaving unsightly gaps between several tiles, rapidly repaired using this kit, good suction, a few swings of hammer and gap closed.
