What a delightful find! Beyond the fact that Victoria M. Johnson’s writing is filled with warmth, humor, and charm, it is also chock full of wisdom about relationships, which affirm the idea that sometimes the greatest romances blossom out of the direst situations, when we least expect it, with the least likely candidates. Johnson’s observations come from many sources, and her favorite heroines are smart, feisty, self-sufficient women who have much to show readers about survival and love. In addition to Johnson’s observations, each lesson features affectionate reflections about the genre from Romance writers, as well as short excerpts from numerous novels. I know I added a number of titles to my reading list, thanks to this book. It’s not only a thoroughly enjoyable read, it’s a wonderful resource for all who love Romances.
